HI! My name is Bill Dixon. Photography started out being mostly a hobby when I was very young with my first camera being a Hawkeye Instamatic shooting 110 film. My family did a lot of traveling during the summer, and I enjoyed growing up taking lots of pictures. Later, joining the Air Force allowed me to travel much more. I upgraded to a Pentax 35mm camera and I got into 35mm photography so I could take photos of my travels overseas. After getting out of the military, I decided to upgrade again to a Nikon point and shoot digital camera. I enjoyed this upgrade to my photography, but I was always limited to what I could do with this type camera. I wanted to be able to attach a telephoto len to my camera, but this was impossible with this type of camera. I wanted to get more serious about my photography, so I upgraded to my first DSLR type camera, because even my earlier Pentax 35mm camera had been another point and shoot type camera. A found a great deal when a local electronics store had their going out of business sale, and since this sale happen close to when my income tax return arrived, I decided this was going to be my first attempt at evolving my hobby into something more professional. I bought a Sony A350, and I was really happy with my new camera. Even though photography has not yet become my profession, I am constantly trying to improve what I am doing to become more professional. I am not sure if I’ll ever be able to make enough money doing what I love to make it my profession, but I know that I would enjoy my job so much more than I do now. I believe that the days of dreading going to work would be a thing of the past. I am hoping that this website will help me take the next step toward making this more of a profession. I love taking photos of things I think look great, and I love sharing my photography with my friends and relatives. I decided that it would be pointless to take what I felt were many great photos and yet no one else ever got to see the photos other than me. It would defeat the purpose of even shooting the pictures. I believe this website will also increase the amount of people I can share my photography with. I welcome your feedback. If you see something that you love, let me know. If you see something you hate, let me know that too! Let me know what it is and why you hate it. I may not always agree with you, but I do know that I will never get any better if the only thing I here is complements and praises. If you see something that you would like to have a copy of, let me know that too. I have sold many photographs and would love to make it possible for you to be able to have one of my photographs displayed on one of your walls somewhere. By doing this I can make this less of a hobby and work towards making this more of a profession.
